Quid pro quo
2024 – Ongoing
Installations | Framed A4 sheet, audio
Series, variable durations (loop)
The seven tones in Western music notation correspond to the seven letters of the Latin alphabet:
A, B, C, D, E, F, and G, which repeat in a cycle. They form the foundation of Western music theory.
Building on this, a looping poem was created in English using only these letters, adhering to this strict constraint. While typing this poem on an old typewriter, the sound of each letter being struck is audible, simultaneously accompanied by the corresponding tones produced by a fuzzy electric guitar playing the same notes. This work explores the synesthetic relationship between poetry and music through language.
